Q. What do a priest, a pimp, a robot, and an insane psychoanalystanalyst have in common? A.
They're only a few of the characters in the brilliant and outrageous
independent film by critically acclaimed director Jason Fisher. He uses various verbal dialects to entertain his diverse patrons. In some scenes he speaks in paragraphs of prose poetry. In other scenes he talks jive. Still other scenes find him conversing in formal academic discourse. All of the live action was shot in black and white negative film. In addition, the director uses still images sporadically throughout the film where they relate in some meaningful way to a particular conversation. These images appear in colour. This innovative technique amplifies the surreal mood of the film and creates a richer and more complex visual texture. Conversation
For A Dollar was shot and produced in Atlanta, Georgia during the
year 2000. |
